No tales, no tips, no pretty words or poems this time.
A roundup of recent articles and announcements.
I wanted this letter to be filled with updates on life and The Matter of Little Losses. But I’m reeling, in a lot. Lots of book launch stuff, lots of (yet again) new losses, and lots of life. So, no tales, no writing tips, no pretty words or poems this time.
I’ll hold the heart-deep stuff for a little while longer, and instead share a little in case you missed it roundup of recent articles and announcements — all things for a lazy Saturday or to tuck away and read or RSVP to when you’re good and ready.
Sending all my love, especially as we’re nearing February 14 — a day sure to cradle the complexity of love, loss, and grief. Until then <3333

Tending to Grief through Beauty and Art
April 11 at 7:00 pm – 8:30 pm EDT
Charlotte, NC
Join us for a soulful, soothing evening as we ponder the invitation to tend to grief through beauty and art. Among select readings, Rachel Marie Kang will lead the night with poetic and practical reflections that will help participants (and, thus, the people they serve) make meaning as they grieve the things that always mattered — and always will.
Black Leadership Lessons from Across the Disciplines
February 28 at 1:00 pm EDT
Virtual
Black History Month honors the faithful leaders who came before, but it also reminds us that contemporary generations of Black leaders are still blazing trails, breaking ground, and scaling mountains through their creativity, scholarship, and service. Join us as we bring together innovative and passionate Black Christian leaders across multiple disciplines to share what has motivated, encouraged, and, at times, frustrated them in their leadership. Their journeys in the church, academia, and the arts will give you practical wisdom for creating, serving, and leading in a variety of contexts.
Embracing The Call to Return to Cathartic Creativity
March 22 - March 24
Winston-Salem, NC and Virtual
What do we make of the world we have been given? How do we bring order from chaos, beauty from ashes and flourishing from what is formless and void? Echoing the words first spoken by the Great Artist in the Genesis narrative, we, too, have been invited to bring forth, to give birth, to call life into being.
At this year‘s The Breath & the Clay creative arts gathering, we are extending this invitation to you. Come. Participate in the continual unfolding of our creative inheritance. As artists and creators, we are called upon to be the architects of hope for our generation and for the generations to come. Lend your voice to the transformation, and liberate the creative spark. Let there be.
Tending Hope + Health in Every Season of Chronic Illness
March 15 - March 17th
Virtual
The Diamonds Conference is a free online conference & forum for Christians with health challenges. Millions of chronically ill people battle impossible trials every single day. But so many of them feel so alone. We want them to know they aren’t—not by a long shot. We are a nonprofit and 100% volunteer based.
As always, grateful. 🥹🙏🏼🕯️🕊️🩶❤️🩹🍉🫒🌿
Always grateful for YOU <333
