Late, yes! But here's the fall playlist your heart needs right now.
Songs to soothe the soul and welcome all the autumn feels.
May the laundry piles be seen as signs of life.
— Rachel Marie Kang —
Dear hearts:
What a week.
My kids are sick. Work, email, and laundry piles abound. I ate the gluten cake when I shouldn’t have eaten the gluten cake. One edited manuscript due while another slips in. Where are my glasses and what is sleep?
I didn’t read the book I set out on my nightstand.
But I did write a poem.
I didn’t drink my daily water goal.
But I did take a walk. Quite a few, actually.
I didn’t sleep like I wanted to.
But I did stretch when I needed to.
I didn’t have that conversation, didn’t say that thing I wanted to say, didn’t pray the way I wished I would.
But I did sing. I did look out the window, I did linger a little longer, stopped to smell the actual and metaphorical flowers.
I know, I know.
There is work to be done, in our lives and in this world. Endless asks of need and want will always beckon at the door, beg of you—seemingly always, only you.
There is always more or better we could and would have done.
Dear hearts, in the midst of all the begs and breaks and needs and wants and asks and demands and invites of you . . . I wish you slowing down. I wish you lingering, and stopping, and strolling.
May the laundry piles be seen as signs of life.
May the could haves, should haves fade into the faintest echo.
And, may this fall playlist of fall·ish songs soothe your soul and usher you in to welcoming all the autumn feels.
You are seen. You are held. And you are allowed to move slowly, giving yourself time and space to breathe and simply be.
All,
Rachel
Listen to the FALLOW fall playlist while your work,
clean, drive, and do all the things.
May the calm of this coming season
soak down through to your bones, even now.
Notes:
The audiobook for The Matter of Little Losses is 60% off · ONLY 3 DAYS LEFT!
Once you get a chance to listen to the fall playlist, come back this way and tell me which song is your favorite, and why. ♡
P.S. I’m sorry for the late letter. Kids are sick, and we’re adjusting to a new living situation (living with my in-laws). I’ll be hanging around today while finishing up making homemade elderberry syrup and will spend time responding to messages and catching up on old ones.
Wishing you all so, so well—cheers to to weekend ♡

Ohhh, I love the “I didn’t…but I did…” practice here. I need some of that energy in my life.
